STEELEND VICS 1 DUNFERMLINE 2
The U19s recorded their second pre season win when they took on junior team, Steelend Vics on Wednesday night. The match started at a fast and furious pace with the home side creating the first chance.
Taking advantage of their slope Steelend latched on to a long through ball with their striker first to react; his shot hit the top of the crossbar.
Dunfermline came more into the game and took the lead in 23rd minute from a Rees Smith corner. Good movement in the box resulted in Stuart DEARDEN meeting the delivery from the right to head powerfully beyond the keeper from 8 yards.
Just as the goal launched the Pars team into one of their best periods of the match a double one two on the edge of the penalty box let their opponents in to find the corner of the net.
Hamish French`s young side came back strongly forcing the opposing keeper into saves before restoring their lead ten minutes from the interval. A fine move down the left ended with Jed Hiroz sweeping over the ball for Jordan WHITE to head home.
Playing down the slope in the second half, Dunfermline managed to peg Steelend back into their own half for long periods. Their goalkeeper dealt well with shots from the edge of the box until the frantic pace of the opening 45 minutes contributed to the match petering out with the Pars worthy of their win.
